Grassroots Giveaway – March Recipient – Jake’s Help From Heaven

It’s the start of another month and it’s time to announce the next recipient of the DeNooyer Chevrolet Grassroots Giveaway. We are thrilled to celebrate a wonderful organization that provides support to individuals with medical challenges and disabilities in the Capital Region. The March recipient of the Grassroots Giveaway is Jake’s Help From Heaven!

Started by Brian and Heather Straughter after facing the loss off their son Jake. In January 2017, Jake suffered a prolonged seizure resulting in major deficits. Over the next few years, Jake gained some of his abilities back but unfortunately passed away in December of 2010. During Jake’s recovery, Brian and Heather received an overwhelming amount of support from the community and began forming relationships with their network of therapists, caseworkers and doctors.

As a result of their experience the Straughters began Jake’s Help From Heaven, with the mission to “assist children and their families affected by debilitating illnesses including neurological impairments, mitochondrial and genetic disorders, and pediatric orthopedic problems.” They accomplish their mission through a variety of efforts including grants and financial assistance for necessary or convenient items and services, non-medical ancillary support services, supporting research, and providing an adaptive equipment storeroom and exchange program.

DeNooyer Chevrolet is honored to award $4,500 to Jake’s Help From Heaven. You can learn more about this local non-profit, serving the Capital Region, all month long with posts on our Facebook page and spots on FLY92.
